SalamAir, a popular low-cost airline in Oman, has exciting news for travelers. They are starting new direct flights between Salalah and Bahrain during the much-awaited Khareef season. This means you can now fly straight from Salalah to Bahrain without any layovers.
The decision to offer this route was made because many people want to travel conveniently between these two places. SalamAir's CEO, Captain Mohamed Ahmed, explained that the flights were made possible thanks to subsidies on fuel prices at Salalah Airport. This move will help boost tourism in Oman and contribute to the country's Vision 2040 plan.

Oman Airports Company, responsible for Salalah Airport, has revealed its plans for Khareef Season 2023. They announced that Salalah Airport will cater to a total of 2,679 scheduled flights from June 21 to September 21, marking an exciting period of increased air traffic.
These flights will consist of 1,456 domestic flights and 1,223 international flights, showcasing the airport's significance as a hub for both local and global connectivity. Oman Airports Company has diligently prepared to handle this surge in flights to ensure a smooth travel experience for passengers during this vibrant season. Oman's steady economic growth in recent years has caught the attention of Fitch Ratings, which has given a positive assessment of the country's ability to meet its long-term financial obligations.
Thanks to its high oil and gas revenues, Oman has been able to reduce its public debt and fiscal deficit through fiscal adjustment measures such as spending cuts, subsidy reductions, and taxes. Fitch Ratings has upgraded Oman's sovereign credit outlook from stable to positive, reflecting an improvement in its public finances. Salalah Port has seen the arrival of three cruise ships on April 20th, 2023:

Salalah is slowly becoming a very popular destination for travellers, from near and far. As part of its tourism program to various ports worldwide, the Port of Salalah welcomed the Italian cruise ship 'Costa Toscana', which carried 3,179 passengers, including 1,653 tourists.
The program for passengers arriving from Port Sultan Qaboos in the Governorate of Muscat on the Italian cruise ship encompassed visits to archaeological, tourist, and historical monuments famous in the Governorate of Dhofar, in addition to exploring the beaches and traditional markets in the city of Salalah. It's worth noting that the Sultanate of Oman draws numerous cruise ships each year, thanks to its exceptional marine location, overlooking the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea, and the Sea of Oman. There are 27 expected cruise ship arrivals in Salalah Port between January 2023 and December 2023. The total number of passengers on these ships is estimated to be 41,232. As part of its summer schedule, Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, has increased its frequency of flights to Moscow. The airline will now operate daily flights using its popular Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft.

Flynas, a budget airline based in Saudi Arabia, has announced that Salalah will be one of the ten new destinations it will be adding to its services in Asia and Europe during the 2023 summer season. Flynas plans to connect it with Dammam and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

Historic Agreement: UAE and Oman to Invest $3 Billion in Rail Line Connecting the Gulf Countries2/26/2023 The United Arab Emirates and Oman have agreed to invest $3 billion in a railway line that will connect the two countries, cutting travel time in half. The project will be overseen by Oman and Etihad Rail through a joint venture, and Abu Dhabi's Mubadala Investments Company will develop the protocol for the 303-kilometer route. The rail network will start from Sohar, Oman's northern port, and allow passenger trains to run at 200km/h and goods trains at 120km/h. The objective is to boost trade and tourism opportunities between the two Gulf neighbors and with the rest of the region.
