Historic Agreement: UAE and Oman to Invest $3 Billion in Rail Line Connecting the Gulf Countries2/26/2023 The United Arab Emirates and Oman have agreed to invest $3 billion in a railway line that will connect the two countries, cutting travel time in half. The project will be overseen by Oman and Etihad Rail through a joint venture, and Abu Dhabi's Mubadala Investments Company will develop the protocol for the 303-kilometer route. The rail network will start from Sohar, Oman's northern port, and allow passenger trains to run at 200km/h and goods trains at 120km/h. The objective is to boost trade and tourism opportunities between the two Gulf neighbors and with the rest of the region.
